Catechesis
of the Good Shepherd
Children ages 3 - 11
St. Stephen’s offers the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-based approach to children’s religious formation. Teachers, called catechists, are trained to wonder with children as they explore their understanding of God through Bible stories, story-telling, and actively working with symbols and concepts used throughout the Christian Church.
Classrooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Parish House, easily accessed through the Allen Street Entrance.
Nursery Care
Infants and Toddlers up to 36 months of age
Lower Level, next to Dining Room
Our bright and spacious nursery facility is available every Sunday from 9:00 am
through the end of the 10:00 am service and is located in the lower level of the Parish House.
Parents rotate as hosts to assist our skilled caregivers. Please consider signing up to share in the rotation.
Baptism
Preparation Classes
Baptism is the sacrament of Christian initiation and welcome. It is available to any infant, child, or adult. Please speak with our priest or deacon to assist you in making this holy decision. Baptism occurs throughout the year (except in Lent) in the context of a worship service.
Communion
Classes
At
St. Stephen's, baptized children of any age may receive communion. Each
year during Lent, St. Stephen's
offers a four-session course for children of second grade and above and
their parents,
to help them to understand more fully the meaning of the Holy Eucharist.
