When one asks about The Rev. Gwen W. Sears’s decades of service to St. Stephen’s Church, the answer is, “been there, done that,” from volunteer Sunday school teacher to Deacon and assistant minister. Along the way, Gwen has been Director of Parish Christian Education, member of the Diocesan’s Commission on Ministry, and a member of the Bement Board of Managers. She was honored for her leadership when the former library in the parish house was dedicated as the Sears Room. Although she professes to be retired, Gwen has has continued in her role as a Deacon, assisting at Sunday services and baptisms, marriages and funerals, visiting the ill and troubled, responding to pastoral needs, and conducting lay eucharist visitor (LEV) training in the western corridor of the diocese. |
